Dear Friends and Neighbors in Siskiyou County & Beyond,
Greetings from the top of the state! We hope this letter finds you well amidst the beauty of our shared Northern California landscape. As I write this, it is a cold, stormy day in Siskiyou, which means the mountains will have ample snow for sledding by the time the weekend is here. Today, I'd like to reach out to you about an exciting and crucial topic: Community Schools in our region.
We are excited to share the growing momentum of the Community Schools movement here in Siskiyou County, where education and community come together to support the success of our students and families. With its stunning natural beauty and close-knit communities, Siskiyou County provides the perfect foundation for this transformative initiative.
The Community Schools Landscape in Siskiyou County
Here in Siskiyou County, we’re working diligently to ensure the well-being and success of our students and families through the development of our Community Schools model. Our goal is to strengthen the ties between schools, families, and the wider community by creating a support network where every child has the opportunity to thrive. We are proud to say that we have 18 schools serving over 3,100 students across our county that are implementing the Community Schools model through funding awarded by the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP).
Our Community Schools are designed to:
- Address out-of-school barriers to learning through integrated student supports
- Expand and enrich learning opportunities for students
- Foster strong family and community engagement in the educational process
- Collaborate with local partners to offer essential services and support to students and families
Our strength as a community lies in the robust partnerships we’ve built with local organizations eager to support our schools and students. Across the county, we are fortunate to have school leadership and staff who are enthusiastic champions of the Community Schools vision. Additionally, we take pride in the rich diversity of our families and students, who bring unique perspectives and strengths to our shared efforts.
Together, we are building a future where every child has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. Thank you for your continued support as we work toward making our schools a cornerstone of community success.
If you have any questions, ideas, or would like to explore potential collaborations, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to building a future where our students are fully supported while celebrating the rural spirit that defines us.
Warm regards,
Michelle Line
